Adding a Fire Pit to Your Garden
Posted on: 24/06/2015A fire pit is a great addition to your landscaping plans, letting you extend the enjoyment of your garden for you and your guests. They provide warmth, light, ambience and even a cooking source. It is the perfect natural gathering spot for socialising, entertaining and relaxation.
Having a fire pit installed can also serve as an important focal point in your outdoor landscape design. There are many options available when it comes to the size, shape and style of a fire pit. A built-in fire pit is the most popular types and can be made from a variety of materials including concrete, stone and brick.
The great thing about fire pits is that they don't have to be round, they can be square, L-shaped, triangular or an entirely bespoke shape to your liking.
Things to consider
Before you have a fire pit installed there are a few things that you need to consider:
- Size: if your fire pit is too small, it won't put out enough heat making it hard for more than a few people to circle around. However, a fire pit that is too big could easily get out of hand and guests may have difficulty conversing across the distance of the pit.
- Style: there are many styles to choose from including fire bowls, bonfire pits, wood burning fire pits and gas fire pits. Fire pits can be fuelled in many different ways such as gas, propane and wood, so determining on how you want to fuel your fire pit will depend on your personal preference. They all have their own pros and cons but all do the job just as well as one another.
- Cost: as there are so many different styles of fire pit, there are a variety of prices too. A portable fire pit can be the most cost effective choice whilst the high end custom fire pits can be a bit more expensive. You can still have a beautiful fire pit no matter what your budget may be.
