Breathing new life into a small courtyard garden

We recently carried out work to breathe new life into a small courtyard garden in Sprowston, Norwich, which was dark, dreary and unusable. The existing patio was uneven and in desperate need of repair, while the drain cover was an unattractive feature in the centre of the garden.

After discussions with the customer we carried out work to install a natural sandstone patio to make the garden a more attractive space to want to spend time in. The ground was levelled off and the new patio stones laid in a random pattern on a concrete base. The patio was raised to the level of the drain cover and now sits flush with the drain concealed. The result is an excellent, usable, outdoor suntrap, perfect for socialising.
