High Quality Installation In Mulbarton
Posted on: 16/10/2014We like to showcase the work that we have completed so that you can easily see how the look of your driveway can be transformed. The landscaping ideas page on our website allows you to use a handy before and after slider to see how gardens and driveways can come to life in seconds. Sometimes though, we think it is worth going into detail on some of these projects so you can get a clearer look at the work that we perform and the care, quality and detail that we put into every job we undertake.
Transforming a driveway
Your driveway is what visitors are presented with before they enter your home. If it looks lifeless and uncared for then it will present a bad first impression of your property. We recently performed work on a driveway in Mulbarton, located outside of Norwich, to help rectify a problem just like this. The homeowner was not happy with their original gravel driveway and hired us to give the driveway a new look to improve the exterior of their home.
The work we perform
When we undertake a project we normally approach it in the same way and complete it in a series of different stages. This ensures that the work is completed in the most efficient way possible and finished to the highest quality - the project in Mulbarton was no different.
- Out with the old: The first step was to remove the old driveway. We used a mini-digger to remove the gravel and dig up the old garden, leaving us with a blank slate.
- Concrete and sand base: When we removed the old driveway we dug down creating space for a concrete base. This helps to seal out moisture and ensure a long lifespan. We then added a bed of sand on top, onto which we can place the paving.
- Paving: For this project we used the Alpha Antique range of block paving, finished in Autumn Gold. More information on this range of paving can be found in one of our previous blog posts.
Finishing touches
To ensure that you get the best work possible we always think about every aspect of your driveway, down to the smallest detail. The little things that other companies may overlook we make sure we offer to our customers so that they can get the driveway that suits their needs.
- Edging: The edge of a driveway is just as important as the paving itself. An untidy edging can ruin the look that the home owner is trying to achieve. We used high quality bullnose curve stones for the edging in Mulbarton.
- Drainage: We always make sure to fit adequate drainage grilles around your driveway to ensure there are no pools of water that could cause damage if the weather is bad.
- Aesthetic detail: In this particular job there were several drain covers over the driveway. While we could have paved around them, instead we covered them with the same paving as the rest of the drive to ensure that the overall aesthetic was not affected.
