How to maintain your patio

Posted on: 07/11/2013

Taking the time to look after your new patio can help prolong its lifespan and ensure that it continues to look good for many years to come. If you are unsure how to maintain you patio, we have put together a few pieces of advice.

Most patios simply require a regular hose down and a sweep with a stiff brush. Taking the time to do this can help to avoid a build up of moss which, when wet, can cause your patio to become very slippery under foot.

Jet or pressure washing is a great way of ensuring your patio continues to look great, but be careful not to wash excessively or too powerfully. Doing so risks exposing the aggregate of concrete patios, exposing failing pointing on older patios or washing away the kiln dried sand in the joints of block paving.

The main benefit of taking the time to look after your patio is that it will continue to look great and let’s face it; if it looks good you are more likely to use it on a regular basis!
