Maintaining the appearance of your new paving

So you have just spent money paying for your new garden paving, but how long will it stay looking that good? No matter how good the materials used, or how good the standard of the installation, without a little maintenance from you it will not look that good for ever!

There are a few simple steps you can take to maintain the appearance of your paving. By taking the time to wash it with water, or pulling the weeds from the between the slabs, you can very quickly give your new paving a facelift.

Where foot traffic is heavy, weeds will have little chance of growing back. Where foot traffic is quieter, there are a number of steps you can take to limit the growth of weeds.

Brushing regularly: Taking the time to sweep away the sand and dust from the surface of your paving will not only help to improve its appearance, but will prevent the weeds from making their home on the surface.

Weed poison: Many people will use weed poison as a way of killing weeds, though it is far more effective to use weed preventers to prevent them from appearing in the first instance. Applied to the surface, these chemicals will help to kill weeds and seeds before they have an opportunity to grow.

Sealants: There are a number of products on the market that will prevent weeds from growing in the structure of the paving. If you opt for this method we recommend you regularly maintain your paving, as dirt can prevent the sealant from working effectively.
