5 Indications that Your Driveway Needs Paving this Winter

Posted on: 29/11/2016

In the words of Ned Stark: “Winter is coming!” As the cold fronts become more frequent and icy blasts from north of the wall bring with them the threat of severe frosts, now is the perfect time to pave your driveway. Here are five indications that your driveway needs some attention.

A driveway with muddy puddles
  1. Puddles. If regular rainfall means regular wet socks when transferring the shopping from the boot of your car to the kitchen. You may have a problem with puddles. Puddles form in hollows and ruts gouged out of an unpaved driveway. Paving will solve your problem.
  2. Mud. Treading mud indoors or lacing and unlacing heavy boots just to take out the rubbish is a pain. A pain that could be eased by paving your driveway.
  3. Weeds. Is your driveway starting to look like a deleted scene from Day of the Triffids? Dandelions are one thing, but is that a sycamore that has taken root? We will dig down and remove your nascent forest and lay a firm base of concrete before paving.
  4. Cracks. The cracks in that old asphalt driveway are only going to get worse with each frost. We can remove your old driveway and replace it with a smart paved driveway.
  5. Snow. If you can’t tell where the compacted snow ends and the frozen ground begins then shovelling the white stuff off your driveway becomes even more of a chore than it was to begin with. With a paved driveway you will be able to sweep away a light snowfall with a broom.
