When you invite someone into your home to complete a job, you are trusting that they will do the labour you have asked them to do and charge you a fair price. As TV shows such as Rogue Traders make a point of showing us, not everybody can be so trusted. There are cowboys and rip-off merchants who are charging inflated prices for shoddy work. How do you tell if a tradesperson is genuine? The best way is to check their accreditations. Knights Paving and Landscaping Ltd is signed up to the Norfolk Trusted Trader scheme.  

How the Scheme Works

Norfolk Trusted Trader is a directory of businesses operated by Norfolk County Council Trading Standards Service. The idea is to supply the residents of Norfolk with a list of businesses that can be trusted to provide honest labour. Members have to comply with strict standards or risk being struck off the register. We are also subject to background checks as part of the accreditation process.

Independent Dispute Resolution

As part of the scheme, we have signed up to the independent dispute resolution service. We don’t expect to have to use it. The standard of our work is high and our pricing system is fair. However, we want our customers to know that in the unlikely event of there being a dispute, they would have recourse to an independent process that would avoid hefty legal bills. 

Online Reviews

Norfolk Trusted Trader is also affiliated with the Referenceline website where potential customers can read reviews that our previous customers have left us. Customers can leave good or bad reviews here. We are pleased to say that our overall satisfaction rating stands at 96%.

Ultimately, if you are hiring a trader to work in your home and they don’t have any accreditations, you should be asking yourself, ‘why not?’ Have they failed the background checks? Do they fail to meet the strict standards of fair pricing for honest labour? In each of these cases, you’d want to be wary of inviting them onto your property.
