Patios in Smaller Gardens

Posted on: 23/10/2015

You do not need to have a expansive garden to enjoy the benefits of a beautifully installed patio. Even in a garden with limited space, it is possible to create an outdoor space, perfect for outdoor dining, socialising and relaxation. Here are a few suggestions of how we can transform even the smallest space into somewhere which perfectly meets your needs.

Outdoor Dining

If you love barbecues and eating outdoors, then a paved area means you don’t have to worry about a wobbly table. Make sure you think about the size of the patio when you are purchasing furniture for it, as your patio needs to be big enough to fit your table and the surrounding chairs. We wouldn’t recommend anything much smaller than 10m2 if a patio is intended as a dining area.

Create a Sun Trap

Position your patio so that you can make the most out of the sun, and add a couple of comfortable chairs or sunloungers.

Cut Out Lawn Mowing

Lawn mowers are expensive to buy and bulky to store. If you have a smaller garden and a shed to store a lawn mower, then you’re cutting into space that could perhaps be better used in other ways. A small paved garden with plants in planters is easy to manage.

Brightly Coloured Paving Slabs

Bright paving slabs in a smaller space adds colour and vibrancy and can be complemented by flowers in surrounding beds and planters.

We hope this will inspire you to consider a patio, whatever space you have available. If you want to speak to one of our experienced landscape gardeners then give us a call on 01603 360548.
