Storm Jonas: 3 People Who Shovelled Snow from their Driveways in Creative Ways

Posted on: 29/01/2016

We're over halfway through the third mild wet winter in a row. A cold snap last week didn't cause much more than frost, so it looks like we'll have to wait another year before we will be able to build a snowman. Not so for our cousins over the pond. Thanks to Storm Jonas, New York and Philadelphia have seen record snowfalls. Although the snow caused widespread disruption throughout eastern US, some people reacted to the blizzard in surprising (and hilarious) ways. Here's three people who chose very unusual ways to shovel snow from their driveways.

1. Sam Curry, The Snowplough Kid

It’s a backbreaking, thankless task and a fresh snowfall in the night means that you have to do it again tomorrow. Most children would probably moan at being asked to clear a driveway of snow, but parents Carrie and Brian Curry found a brilliant way to persuade their three-year-old to get to work. They bought him the bulldozer he asked for for his birthday. He loves it and has started clearing the neighbour’s drives as well.

2. James Morris, The Man With a ‘Secret Weapon’

If you can’t bribe the neighbours’ kids to clear your driveway, at least America is the home of unnecessarily powerful power tools. 89-year-old James Morris has been clearing his drive with a snowblower that he bought cheaply (in the summertime) three decades ago.

3. Cliff White, AKA Snowasaurus Rex

When a neighbour dared Cliff White to put on his dinosaur Halloween costume and shovel the driveway, he got to work right away – wearing just his boxers underneath the dinosaur suit. His wife Amy posted the hilarious results to Facebook, where it went viral.

These people clearly had a lot of fun clearing snow and ice from their driveways in usual ways! We may not have had the heavy snow, but cold isn’t the only thing that can damage a driveway. If you think that your driveway has seen better days, why not treat yourself to a new one? All of our driveways come with a 12 year guarantee – that’s the longest guarantee of any pavers in Norwich.
