The Best Paving at the Chelsea Flower Show
Posted on: 26/05/2016Hang on to your hydrangeas, the Chelsea Flower Show kicked off this week. Horticulturists from around the world are flocking to the annual event to see the latest trends in garden design. We’ve been trawling YouTube to find inspirational clips of a few of our favourite show gardens. Naturally, we pay special attention to the paving.
Diarmuid Gavin had been recognised as an up-and-coming talent at the Chelsea Flower Show for many years before he finally won gold in 2011. This year he is back with a symmetrical Arts and Crafts inspired design for Harrods. We noticed the reclaimed Yorkstone paving, even though it’s easy to get distracted by plants and trees that seem to have a mind of their own!
The RHS say this year’s garden from the Telegraph “reminds us of our own relatively insignificant and fleeting moment on Earth.†Despite this somewhat dark theme, it picked up the prize for Best Show Garden. The beautiful limestone paving has been hand-worked.
